Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and doing well. We miss having our students in the building this time of the year. Students are normally taking field trips, reaping the rewards from all their hard work and preparing for our awesome field day. While we are disappointed that we will miss these opportunities, we try to stay positive. Seeing and talking to our students has helped tremendously!
I would like to make you aware of some dates that are approaching for the month of May. During the week of May 18th, parents will be able to get their child’s desk and locker items. A Skylert will go out this week with a sign-up sheet per grade level. This sign-up sheet will allow you to sign-up for a time slot during the day to get these items. If you have more than one child in our building, please add those names to the sign-up and we will make sure all the items are together so that you only have to make one trip.
You will pull up to Entrance 4 (side gym door entrance) at your allotted time. Someone will bring the items out to you and you will be asked to pop your trunk. If you have items to return to the school such as textbooks, library books or band instruments we ask that you bring them at this time. Students will keep their chromebooks/iPads over the summer.
A date in the summer will be arranged for children transitioning from kindergarten to first grade to exchange their iPad for a chromebook. We will also have a date for our incoming kindergarten students to pick up their iPads.
If your child is missing a substantial amount of work, please make sure they have that worked turned in as soon as possible. Your child’s attendance is contingent upon the completion of their weekly classroom work. You can reference Skyward for missing assignments. Report cards will be accessible on Skyward on May 26th.
We miss our students so much that teachers will continue to reach out to them by phone or Google Meets to just say Hi! Our school clinical social worker, Ms. Mellindy Gregory, is also available and will be reaching out to students and families who may need support and assistance. You can reach her by cell at (317) 358-3653 or email [email protected]. If you haven’t already I encourage you to fill out the free home delivery meal service form at, www.switzsc.org.The sign-up for home delivery meals is time-sensitive and will be closing soon. We are all in this together. We cannot thank you enough for all your hard work over the last four weeks of distance learning.
