Important COVID Vaccine Information from the Switzerland County Health Department

Covid-19 Update

Monthly case activity:

April:  15 positive cases.
May:   26 positive cases
June: 16 positive cases

The Switzerland County Health Department continues to operate a vaccine clinic but has moved operations from the technology center to the Health Department.  Free testing is still available at the health department.

Please visit switzerland-county.com and scroll down to “Health” to see the schedule and contact information.  Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J are available.

Alternatively, please call 812-427-3220 for information

You can still go to ourshot.in.gov to register for a vaccine appointment.

Regarding the Delta variant:  While the Delta variant is more easily spread and more infections, preliminary data suggest that after two doses, the Pfizer- BioNTech vaccine is 88% effective against symptomatic disease and 96% effective against hospitalization.   One dose is significantly less protective.   While the data regarding Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines against the delta variant is not available,  the effectiveness for two doses of the Moderna vaccine or a single dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is expected to be similar.
