HS Economics Class Marketing Project Leads to $600 Donation to Local Charity Keeping Pace

From teacher Adam Pietrykowski:

“I am happy to announce that at the conclusion of a month long project conducted by the Economics classes at SCHS they were able to donate 600 dollars to the local charity Keeping Pace.  The project aimed to encapsulate economic lessons in marketing research, advertising, production, distribution, and opportunity cost, in as close to a real world scenario as is possible in a school setting.  The classes were divided into six groups who were all successful in making profit on a wide variety of different goods.  The group that turned the largest profit received the prize of choosing the charity the proceeds would go to.  The group of Ariel Oeffinger, Hailey Gerster, Kinsley Griffith, and Anna Gloss ended up making a profit of over 300 dollars on their waffle bar project.  We are extremely proud of all the hard work these girls, along with all the groups, put into making this a fun and engaging activity for our school that also had a wonderful byproduct for the community.  Keeping Pace works to help local cancer patients through donations of gas cards, care packages, and other small gifts to help patients in need who are traveling to receive care as they fight back against cancer.”

Thank you,
