From Adviser Kodi Thayer-
The BPA Region 12 Leadership Conference was held this past Saturday, December 4, at North Harrison High School. The Switzerland County High School chapter had 23 members compete at regionals, and of those members, 11 advanced on to the State Leadership Conference. Students have the opportunity to compete in a variety of events. There are computerized/objective tests such as payroll accounting, personal financial literacy, business law, health administration and procedures, and many more. There are also, both individual and team, judged events such as interview skills, extemporaneous speech, prepared speech, and presentation management team. In order to advance to the state leadership conference, a student must finish in the top 5 in computerized and objective tests, top 3 in individual judged events, and top 2 in team judged events.
The students who advance to state will now continue to prepare for their events. The State Leadership Conference will be held March 13 – March 15 in Indianapolis Indiana.
