On March 2nd at 6:30 pm in the Switzerland County High School cafeteria there will be a very important presentation open to the entire community.  Please plan to attend.
Our community, like all others, finds itself in a dangerous time as we try to guide our youth as they make decisions with social media and cell phones at their fingertips.
The presentation is intended to provide education to parents, and their children, to allow everyone to stay as safe as possible while living in the digital community.  Social Media and Texting provide excellent opportunities for fun, growth, and knowledge.  However, they must be used with the same caution that we teach our children about interacting in regular society.  It is our hope that we can provide you and your families with the tools necessary to be responsible citizens in our digital community.
Among the topics to be discussed:
  –Sexting
  –Cyber-Bullying
  –Inappropriate Social Media Usage
–Human trafficking that develops through sexting and internet
  –How to report issues
Our presenter will present for about an hour and will take questions after the presentation.  The presenter is Sgt. Matt Simmons who is a member of the Cyber Crime Unit in the Special Investigations Command of the Indiana State Police.  Sgt. Simmons lives in Bartholomew County and was previously assigned to the Versailles State Police Post where he worked in the enforcement division prior to joining the internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force and then the CCU.
If you have any questions prior to the presentation please contact either David Todd 812-599-2578 (SCHS Assistant Principal) or Officer Roy Leap 812-221-0497 (SCHS School Resource Officer).
We highly encourage concerned citizens to attend and to pass the word!
